Good afternoon Saseenos families, I hope this email finds you well on this beautiful October Friday afternoon.  As we head into this long weekend, I am hoping that you are able to take stock of the good fortunes bestowed upon you in this world.  I can’t help but feel very grateful for my own life, including my role here at this beautiful little school.

Thank you to our PAC, in particular Kerri and Kris Anderson, for a very successful first PAC Lunch of the year.  As always, we had many happy little ones munching on their Subway and treats during our lunch break.  We look forward to the next Hot Lunch date on the calendar.

With this recent warm weather trend our Lost and Found has grown exponentially!  When you have a spare moment or two, please do drop by the rack just inside the main entrance to check out our wares.  I am hoping that many of these items will find their way home at some point in the very near future.  We will also do our best to display the items on the outside fence in the next week or two.  Thank you for your help with this one!

You may have already heard, but SD62 is looking for new recruits of the employee variety.  As we remain a rather rapidly growing district, maintaining appropriate staffing levels can be a challenge in this complex world of education.  As such, The Sooke School District is hiring Noon Hour Supervision Assistants to fill many vacancies, Noon Hour Supervision Assistants On-Call and School Meals Program Coordinators On-Call.  To learn more about the aforementioned positions, please utilize the following url’s:

I’ve taken the liberty to attach an educational article to this version of the Weekly.  The theme is around gratitude, and it is an easy read.  If you have a few spare minutes over the next few days, please peruse at your covenience.

I wanted to take a moment to elaborate on our hot food program here at Saseenos.  As you know, this is a fully-funded venture, and it has been such a wonderful addition to all that is Saseenos-related.  Now a few weeks in, this program is feeding the bellies of many little ones, and filling our gym kitchen with smiles.  Ashley Boake, one of our amazing EA’s, is the Mealtime Coordinator, and she is loving this part of her role here at Saseenos.  Moving forward I will be reaching out to individual families to solidfy our list of participants.  Please note that this program is not JUST for families in need of assistance, but meant to feed hungry little bellies on a daily basis.  If you ever have any questions, please reach out to me directly on this one, as this is a very special program.

Please be Sure to Add These Dates to Your Family Calendars:

Mon, Oct. 9                      Thanksgiving—NO SCHOOL

Thurs, Oct. 19                  Shake Out BC Drill

Wed, Oct. 25                    Individual Photo Day

Fri, Oct. 27                       Cozy Friday!

Tues, Oct. 31                    Halloween Festivities!

Thank you for a wonderful beginning to our school year, and for sharing your little ones with us on a daily basis.  As I always mention, we are truly fortunate to be on this journey together.

Please have a wonderful long weekend.

Gord
