Dear Parents and Guardians,

A few highlights and pieces of information for this coming week (and other):


Photo Re-take Day

The date has been changed to Mon, November 19 at 1pm. This session is for any students needing or wanting their pictures re-done or for students who were away on Photo Day.

Art Cards

Information regarding the Fundraiser for your children’s art cards is in the process of coming home. All cheques payable to SD62 (not Saseenos – the order form was incorrect).

Halloween –

In case your children have not reminded you J haha – Halloween is Wednesday, October 31! Students are welcome to wear costumes that day. Please refer to the District letter for costume guidelines. Classes will be having a variety of different activities that day. For the following days, if your child is wanting to bring a treat to school, please choose ‘one’ treat that can be enjoyed after lunch. It is an exciting week, a treat is nice, but any additional sugar doesn’t mix well with school learning.

Popcorn Days –

Popcorn Days have started! At present, these days are for students. The next one is Friday, November 2. Popcorn is $1, being collected at the beginning of the day. If you’d like to pay for multiple days at a time, that can be done and would be appreciated. Popcorn will be served at the end of the day.

End of Day Parent Gathering-Visit

We have opened the gym schedule for the last part of the school day. At approximately 2:40, the gym will be available for parents to gather and visit while waiting for the end of the school day. This will be a nice, warm, dry spot for when the heavy rain comes! We would love to have some tea brewing – please let me know if anyone(s) may want to assist us with this. Then, at the bell, there’s easy access to head into classes for visit J

Dear Parents and Guardians,

A few highlights and pieces of information for this coming week (and other):

Hot Dog Day –Thursday, Oct 25 is our next hot lunch day. Deadline for orders is Sunday evening (21st) through the online order system. Thank you to our Saseenos PAC!

Halloween Dance

the Saseenos PAC is hosting the annual Saseenos Halloween Dance for families from 5:30-7:30. This is a supper event with pizza, chips and drinks. Admission is $5 per student with $15 maximum per family. As well, there will be 50/50 and prizes!

Popcorn Days

The first day is Friday, October 26. Popcorn will be $1 and served near the end of the day. Single day cash sales will happen first thing in the morning on the day of. We are looking into pre-sales for multiple day sales – more on that coming, if it turns out to be possible.

Consent Forms Online – All consent forms such as Fieldtrips, media, internet, etc. are done online.   These forms give consent for teachers to take your child(ren) on local field trips, to work on projects within the class and much more.  If you have not completed these forms please visit https://consent.sd62.bc.ca. If you require assistance with this or have questions, please contact Ms. Kerry in the office.

Lost and Found

Note any items left outside, in the hallways, gym etc. are placed in the ‘Lost and Found’ baskets located just outside the office. At the end of each month, Mr. Vince, our custodian, will gather any items not claimed for the donation bin. Please be sure to check these baskets through the month if your child is missing something.

An additional note on Lost and Found – Some other steps in place:

-a sweep of outside grounds takes place at the end of recess and lunch each day with items brought to the baskets.

-items will be laid out a couple times a month (like during the Meet the Team Night) for students can see, with teachers’ assistance

-the left items after that, will be packed up into the first week of the next month – with a reminder going home

Every month the SD62 Healthy Schools lead hand will be sending out newsletters.  These newsletters will include great programs that are out there for families.






Consent Forms On-line (please tick to indicate completed)


Annual consents need to be redone each school year.

School Cash Online Consent Form – School District 62 (Sooke) is offering School Cash Online to all parents for school fees as well as district fees. School Cash Online is a program which provides parents with the convenience of paying school and district fees online and has been a great success. In order to use this option, students must be attached to the school by filing out the School Cash Online Consent Form. Saseenos is hoping to use this option for parents. If you have any problems completing this form, please contact the school.

Please ensure that the email address is the same that you have provided us on the school verification form, also your email address must be the same for all your children.

  1. Register for a School Cash Online account at, https://sd62.schoolcashonline.com/ 
  2. Attach your students at School Cash Online. When attaching your students to your account you will need their PEN number.   You can find this number on your child’s report card or contact the school.


Saseenos Elementary is excited to offer you the opportunity to purchase your school supplies through School Start for the 2018/2019 school year. This process will save you both time and money.

There are a few simple steps to ensure your child will receive standardized brand name products (specified by each teacher).

Your school is eligible to receive $5/kick back!

This order form has a Starter Package (consumable items) as well as a list of other Required Items. The Required Items are mandatory by each teacher; they include items such as pencil cases, sharpeners, and calculators. These products do not need to be purchased on a year to year basis if you already have them.

There are two ways to place your order:

You can place your order online at www.schoolstart.ca. Visa & MasterCard are accepted.

              Place your order online in May or June and you will automatically                    entered for a chance to win a $1000 cash draw! 

When using e-commerce sites, please ensure your browser  is Internet Explorer 10.0 or later, Firefox or Chrome

You can also fill out the supplied order form, and return to your school with payment. Please make cheques payable to School Start.

Order Form Deadline: June 22nd, 2018

Late orders will be accepted online until October 1, 2018 (a $5 late fee will be applied after August 1, 2018).

The supplies will be packaged and delivered directly to your house. If you have a P.O. box please use your 911 address. Because the kit (s) are delivered to your home, you will have the ability to:

  • You can pre-label your child’s supplies
  • You can add supplies to your order for your child in another school
