Home / School News / River Runner Weekly – Nov. 23

Good evening, River Runner families, I hope this correspondence finds you well on a cool November evening.  As some of our classroom teachers are conducting Family-Teacher Conferences tonight, I find myself at school with some time to ponder life here at Saseenos, and compose the latest version of our River Runner Weekly…

On the note of our conferences, thank you to those families able to take some time out of your busy schedules to convene on behalf of your little one(s).  As mentioned in a previous message, not all our classroom teachers have opted for this option as an ‘informal’ report.  As we know, the value of communication within our family-school relationship is invaluable.  Thus, if you do feel the need to reach out to your classroom teacher regarding your child’s progress to date, please do not hesitate to do so.  Our formal (written) reports will be coming out on two dates, literally around the veritable corner.  Some of our classes will have reports going home on December 1, whilst others will be delivered on December 8th.  I will send out an email early next week clarifying the reporting dates for each of our divisions.  As always, please reach out to me directly if you have any questions and/or concerns in this regard.

Please remember that we DO NOT HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW, as this is a pre-planned Non-Instructional Day across our awesome district, thus offering our adults the opportunity to learn on behalf of our school.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding in this regard.

Our PAC Gift/Bake Sale is quickly approaching!  Thank you to our PAC members for this one, as it is a very highly anticipated date on the school calendar.  As noted previously, this sale is happening on December 15th, and we are still looking for gift donations and families willing to provide baked goods.  If you have gift donations, please bring those to the main office, and if you are prepared to ‘bake up a storm’ on behalf of our River Runners, please reach out to PAC through the main email.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and contributions to this great event!

If you have travelled through our halls over the last week, you may have noticed a poster on our library windows advertising our upcoming book fair.  This book extravaganza will run for two days, on December 5th and 6th.  We will run out of the library, with sales occurring at lunch time (11:45-12:15) and afterschool (2:30-3:00) on both days.  I will send out a reminder as we get closer to the date, as book fairs are traditionally very busy events here in River Runner territory!

Next Thursday, November 30, marks another Spirit Day here at Saseenos.  For this occasion, our Grade 4/5 leaders have opted for a ‘Dress as Your Favourite Book Character’.  I am very eager to see some creativity on display next Thursday!  And I’ve got some big decisions ahead for myself as well in this regard…

Please be Sure to Add These Dates to Your Family Calendars:

Fri, Nov. 24                        Non-Instructional Day–NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

Tue, Nov. 28                     Purdy’s Orders Deadline

Thank you for your continued support and contributions to all that is Saseenos-related.  This is a truly special little school, which directly reflects our surrounding school community.  The warmth and love are palpable here!

Please have a wonderful weekend.
