Good afternoon River Runner families, and welcome to the first Friday of February.  With this recent stretch of warmer weather, it is honestly hard to believe that our world was covered in snow only a short time ago—oh how I love the west coast…

We had a wonderful week together here at Saseenos, filling our days with love, kindness, learning and laughter.  Thank you for sharing your little ones with us each and every day!  Of special note, over the past few days, was our recent whole-school assembly.  We focused on relevant expectations important to life at school, with our Division 2 students performing skits to emphasize these important messages.  What a great learning experience for all of us!

As you are likely aware, we have a Talent Show occuring here at Saseenos on February 28.  This is an opportunity for our River Runners to showcase their talents!  Please see below for a message in this regard…

Mrs. MacDonald and Ms. Parliament will be holding “auditions” (more of a screening process) on Monday, Feb 5 and Wednesday, Feb 7 at lunch recess. Students can now sign up outside of the music room for an audition spot. If students need specific equipment or music, please send that along on Monday/Wednesday. We have a piano available (FYI).

Our talent show will show case all kinds of talents: sports tricks, joke telling, magic, visual art, singing, gymnastic skills, instruments, dance, or basically anything your child can “show” that makes them talented. In addition we will need two MCs who are confident at public speaking and demonstrate solid reading skills to announce all of our performers/presenters. We hope that over the weekend, you can help your student “hone” their talent a bit so that they can show us their best stuff early next week.

The Talent Show is set for Wednesday, February 28 at 1pm. If your child has a talent that cannot be demonstrated in our gym on a stage (IE surfing or ice skating), perhaps you can help them put together a short video or some photos we can show. Likewise, a slide show of visual art could be put together if many students wanted to show their painting/drawing/sculpting/lego skills.

Please email Laurel Parliament / Amanda MacDonald for more information: lparliament@sd62.bc.ca amacdonald@sd62.bc.ca

This event is a highly anticipated event in the land of River Runners, and I am looking forward to seeing our local talents!
