January 23, 2026,
Dear River Runner Families,
A week of crisp, great weather is making us think winter is over! Our River Runners are using their WITS to solve problems and our school is a calm, fun learning place. [W-walk away I-ignore T-talk it out S-seek help]
- We have, however, had an increase in swearing. We talked to all our Grade 3, 4, and 5 students today about not swearing in any situation: playing basketball, in the classroom, on the playground.
-Our school is a respectful place for learning kindness, respect, and positive communication.
-Swear words can make others feel sad, upset, or unsafe. Especially people younger than you.
-Swearing can cause arguments and make small or no problems into bigger problems.
-Using respectful language shows self-control, responsibility, and a positive way to show feelings.
*Please review this with your child. Thank you very much.
- Today we had a presentation by Paralympian Chris Daw. Chris talked to everyone about disability awareness, resilience, and goal-setting. He brought in his medals, torch, and rings for everyone to see. Please ask your River Runner about it!
- Kindergarten Registration starts tomorrow. If you know anyone with a child who turns 5 before or on Dec. 31st please let them know to register online.
- Grade 5 families please see the information attached about academies available in our school district.
