Dear Parents and Guardians,

A few highlights and pieces of information for this coming week (and other/further):

Scholastic Book Fair –

We will be holding our first Scholastic Book Fair between December 13th and 18th. There will be books and other items for purchase. There will be lots of literacy related ideas for Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. If you wish to purchase an item as a present, let Kerry know and she can put the item aside.  We are looking for parent help with the running of the book fair.  Please see Kerry, if you’re able help on any of those days. The book fair will be open to parents only before and after the morning bell 8:30-9:30am, and to students at lunch and afterschool.

Christmas/Winter Concert –

Please come and enjoy our Christmas/Winter Concert on Thursday, December 20th in the evening between 6:30 – 7:30pm. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. We appreciate the work of our music teacher, Ms. Parliament, and all staff for getting students ready for the concert. If you’re unable to attend the concert in the evening, we will be having our rehearsal the same day at 1:00pm, and you are welcome to attend.

We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Sooke Food Bank at that time. The Sooke Food Bank is accepting the following items:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Pet food

Also, on this day, the Montessori Preschool will hold their concert at 10:15.

Spirit Day –

Our grade 5 spirit committee has arranged Saseenos next spirit day for the last day of school before winter break. It will be Pyjama Day or Christmas themed Wear Day. We will host a movie in the afternoon. Students are welcome to wear appropriate sleepwear or Christmas themed wear, and to bring one small stuffie for the day (to have with them during the movie).

Opportunity for students – next ‘no school’ day

The EMCS Society is hosting a Day Basketball Camp on Dec 3 from 9am to 1pm at the EMCS gym. All experience levels are welcome with grades 2-7. If interested, please contact Aimee at the EMCS program office (250-642-6371) to register or go online – https://www.emcsprograms.ca/programs

Dates to note:

Monday, Dec 3 Curriculum Implementation Day; non-instructional day

Thursday, Dec 6 EMCS Band Concert 7pm

On behalf of the Saseenos Team, have a great week!
